At the start of the 1970s, Johnson switched to Hi Records and continued to churn out hits, We Did It and Back for the Taste of your Love. His biggest hit, Take Me to the River, peaked at number 7 on the R&B chart in 1975. His last hit was Ms Fine Brown Frame in 1982. Since then, Johnson has opened a fast food restaurant as well as making occasional appearances at blues gigs.
