He previously commentated for BBC Radio and television. He has been called upon as an expert witness for motor racing incidents and holds a Guinness Book of Records world record for Fasted Speed Achieved in Reverse at 85 miles per hour. He co-authored Barry: The Story of Motorcycling Legend Barry Sheene in 2008. Steve has two children with his ex-wife Ruth.
