Malinger voiced the role of TJ in the television series Recess from 1997 to 1999. He has had recurring roles in the TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Maybe This Time, The Simple Life, and Party of Five. Malinger has starred in the movies Eve of Destruction, Late for Dinner, Sleepless in Seattle, Bye Bye Love, Sudden Death, Little Bigfoot, and Frog and Wombat. Malinger won two Young Artist Awards for Sleepless in Seattle and Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher. He retired from acting in 2006 and worked as a general manager at Automotive Legends, in Malibu, CA.
