After six months of hard training, he made his debut in a match against Valentijn Overeem. Bonjasky defeated Overeem by TKO. A career of successes followed after this. Bonjasky has won the K-1 World Grand Prix three times, in 2003, 2004, and 2008. His loss at K-1 WGP 2005 in the semifinals against SemmySchilt kept him from being champion for three consecutive times.
