From 1985 to 1986 he starred as Garrett Boydston in the TV series Dynasty and The Colbys. From 2001 to 2005 he starred as Max Cavanaugh in the series Crossing Jordan. In 2007 Howard starred as Joe Samuels in the TV series Cane. He has also had recurring roles in the TV series Murder, She Wrote, Melrose Place, The Young and the Restless, and 30 Rock. Howard has also starred in the movies The Thornbirds, Clear and Present Danger, The Net, Michael Clayton, Rambo, and The Wedding Ringer. Howard won a Primetime Emmy Award for Grey Gardens and a Daytime Emmy Award for The Body Human: Facts for Boys. He was president of the Screen Actors Guild from 2009 to 2012. Unfortunately, Ken Howard died on March 23, 2016 at the age of 71. Upon his death, Gabrielle Carteris assumed his former position as President of SAG-AFTRA.
