Short became the president of the company and headed up their Asian operations. He purchased Skibo Castle in 2003 for 23 million Pounds. In 2008 he gained a controlling interest in Sunderland AFC and assumed ownership in 2009. Short formed Kildare Partners in 2013. Ellis is married to former tennis player Eve Zimmerman.
