After it was acquired by Oracle for $10 billion in January 2005, Duffield briefly withdrew from the software industry to get back at it few months later. In March 2005, David Duffield teamed up with former PeopleSoft vice chair and head of product strategy, Aneel Bhusri, to set up Workday. It’s a company that provides financial management and human capital management software. Duffield still serves as co-chief executive along with Bhusri and he is also an avid philanthropist. Along with his wife, Cheryl, he formed Maddie’s Fund in 1999 to support the animals’ No-kill effort.
