Gwar was known for their shock-rock lyrics and wild stage shows that included the band members wearing elaborate costumes. The were nominated for two Grammys during their career, once for best long-form video in 1992 and a second time for best metal performance. Brockie started out as one of the band’s three guitarists. He then went on to play bass before becoming the Gwar’s official lead vocalist.
